You made me INK

So for the longest time I've been wanting a second tattoo.  My first one is small and is pretty lame, being that I'm sure a lot of girls get "Carpe Diem" tattooed on themselves, but it does mean something to my best friend and I, so who cares I still like it.

This one I LOVE.  I'm a Harry Potter nerd and this quote means a lot.  It's from Prisoner of Azkaban (Book #3) in which Sirius Black is talking to Harry about his parents, and reminding him that his parents will always be with him no matter where he finds himself.  Unfortunately, I lost my father when I was 11, so in a way, these words bring me a bit of comfort.  I can see him in my face every day, from my butt chin to my birthmarks to my chubby nose, and even in my love for books.  He'll always be a part of me, and I hope that I make him proud.

"But know this; The ones that love us never really leave us.  And we can always find them in here" ~Sirius Black.

Vanilla Protein Banana Panckes

In the beginning of April of this year I started training with a local trainer here in Long Beach, CA, Melina Fitness.  Before her I would work out 3-4 times a week, but my nutrition was far from perfect so I was not getting the results I wanted.  I was not over weight, but like so many other women I wanted to be toned and have some muscle definition.

I am proud to say that I've continued my training with Melina and have learned LOTS about good eating habits and how to portion my meals.  One of the things I never thought I would do is drink a protein shake, I totally had the idea in my head that protein shakes were for guys only.  At first I was not a big fan, but then as I did more research there were tons of recipes where protein powder came in so handy, not only in shakes!!!  And just FYI, there are a ton of delicious protein shake recipes online that are awesome!

Yesterday I made Banana Pancakes with Vanilla protein powder.  Lately I've been testing out different protein powders and I got a sample from Perfect Fit Protein, which is a good protein if you're a vegan :)   (And I'm not a vegan, but like I said just testing out different brands). I'm going to be honest and let you know that they do not taste like regular pancakes, HOWEVER, to me they are a delicious and nutritious alternative.  I topped my pancakes with Fage Greek Yogurt and drizzled them with Agave Nectar, but you can top them with pretty much anything (strawberries, blueberries, peanut butter, almond butter, etc).  Just don't kill it by adding regular fatty syrup, if you're serious about living a healthier lifestyle you HAVE TO make healthier choices.  And I'm not going to lie, some days I do have a bad cheat meal, but as Melina tells me, if you're living and making healthier choices 90% of the time, an ice cream on the weekend is not going to hurt you!

Here's a pic of the delicious pancakes along with the recipe I got with my free sample of Perfect Fit protein!

1 Packet Perfect Fit Protein
1/2 a mashed banana (its easier when its nice and ripe)
1/2 a tablespoon almond milk (I use unsweetened vanilla almond milk)
1/4 cup egg whites
1 tsp cinnamon

Wine Tasting Day in Temecula

I don't remember when I started drinking wine, but I know I initially didn't like it (maybe because it was $5 dollar wine from Ralphs).  Then I grew up and started buying good wine and now I love it!!  I'm no wine connoisseur or expert, but maybe one day I will be and I'll retire and work in a wine tasting room :-)

Anyway, this past weekend I had a nice wine tasting day with my good friends at Danza del Sol Winery in Temecula, CA.  It's a small winery, but I haven't taken advantage of my wine club membership, so I finally decided to make a mini trip out there this past weekend.  With 6 tastings you get a nice little buzz going so be careful!  I honestly didn't memorize what wines I had, but I'm always a fan of their white wines especially their Orange Muscat!  Definitely a winery worth checking out :-)

After our little tasting we made our way over to Leoness Cellars which is a winery down the road, and had some yummy lunch.  We had the Artisan Cheese Board, Smoked Salmon and Artichoke Pizza, and the amazing truffle fries with a side of cajun mayo.  If you're ever in Temecula, CA I highly recommend this place for lunch.  The first time I was here I tried the 'Mac n' Cheese for Grown Ups', and that's all I need to say, who doesn't love mac n' cheese?? (just try it!)

Last but not least, is a pic of my friends and I on the bottom right hand corner.  And if you're wondering, I got my maxi dress from a friend who is in the process of starting her online boutique (I'm the one with the chevron pattern).  She currently provides at home shopping parties in the Southern California area, and runs the shop via Instagram (@shopZtique, Follow her!), but soon she'll be launching her shop online.

Thats my blurb for this week! Thanks for stopping by!

Magenta Momentum!

I think this is my first fashion post, and I don't consider myself a fashionista but I do try sometimes :-D  I recently got this dress online on ModCloth.com and I love it! It's flowy, summery, bright, and work appropriate, which is a plus for me!  Check it out here http://www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/magenta-momentum-dress.  I'm also wearing a cute vintagey Alice in Wonderland necklace that I bought a while back specifically for my Alice in Wonderland themed bridal shower that my sister threw for me (which was awesome of course).  The wedges I scored on sale at DSW a few months ago and they are by Seychelles.
So that's my fashion post of the day, pretty simple and easy, and I forgot to mention the belt came with the dress (another plus!) I highly recommend checking out ModCloth, you'll fall in love with it!

DayDreaming...

"Daydreaming
Daydreaming all the time
Daydreaming day
Daydreaming into the night". ~ Hayley Williams

The MAC Hayley Williams collection went totally under the radar.  Everyone (including myself, I'm not going to lie, was anticipating MAC Riri Woo).  However, I'm also a Paramore fan, so I was just as excited for this collection.  The collection was released about two months ago.  There were four items in the collection:  Daydreaming eyeshadow, Sounds like Noise l/s, Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish, and Riot Gear (a bright orange nail polish).

In Wonderland ...

My sister and I aren't your typical sisters.  We're kind of strange in that we don't say cheesy things like "I love you" or "I miss you," and we don't like to hug, we're just not the hugging type.  However, I know that she loves me, she doesn't have to say it.

Just recently, my sister threw me the coolest Alice in Wonderland themed Bridal Shower!  From the small picture frames with Alice quotes, to the delicious mad hatter cake ... She really outdid herself.  She put so much time and effort into everything!  I don't know how I'll ever repay her!  Below are pics from the shower, along with my makeup for that day :-)

I got my necklace from Modcloth ... (I had to!)

Of course I had to use my Urban Decay Alice In Wonderland palette for this day!!

Eyes:
Lid:  UD e/s in Muchness
Outer Corner:  UD e/s in Mad Hatter (lightly)
Crease:  UD e/s in Underland (lightly)
Inner Corner:  MAC e/s in Shroom
Highlight:  UD e/s in ABC Gum (single shadow not in palette)

Cheeks:
MAC Coppertone

Lips:
Inglot lipstick #401
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp

My shower consisted of delicious tea from Teavana, homemade tea sandwiches, scones, cake, and cupcakes!!  Everything was so delicious!

She even made these awesome Bridal Shower Mad Libs

The little frames with quotes and tiny vials of tea were the favors!

These were the pretty flower arrangements which I was waiting for to sing Golden Afternoon :-P

All in all I had a great time and couldn't ask for a better sister :-)

NEW Stila Color Balm Lipstick - Gemma

I haven't bought a new lipstick in a while (at least that's what I like to tell myself), I don't want to admit that my makeup buying addiction is slowly returning.  Usually I just chant to myself that I don't need it, and that usually works.  However, I had to recently buy a new Stila tinted moisturizer and while browsing on their website I saw they had a new kind of lipstick called Color Balm Lipstick.  Its described as a lipstick and lip balm in one! Sounds great being that I suffer from chapped lips all the time!

I didn't wear this shade for a full day, I was just playing with it.  As soon as I opened it I realized that MAC Violetta is almost identical to it! I considered returning it, but I'm sure I'm not the only girl guilty of owning different brands of the same lipstick shade, right?!  See below for more details :-)

MAC Violetta on the Left, Stila Gemma on the Right

The Stila lipstick has a cute little mirror on the top, which is great if you don't usually have a mirror in your purse, or happen to find yourself in a place without mirrors :-D

MAC Violetta on the bottom and Stila's Gemma on the top.  MAC Violetta is a bit more purple, and the Stila color has a bit more pink/fushcia tones to it.  Another difference is that it definitely goes on more sheer than Violetta.

In the picture above and below I am wearing Stila's Gemma with NYX lipliner in Purple Rain (Yes, I bought the lipliner a few years back just because of the name.  Who doesn't love Purple Rain?)

I thought it would be fun to test it out with a different color, so below I mixed Stila's Gemma with NYX lipliner in Plush Red.  It looks more berry colored when mixed with a reddish liner.  I like it!

(Pardon my Kevin Bacon nose ;-)

What do you think?  Purple liner or Red shaded liner? Can you see the difference?
